| .. | We honor the Uncles They are the brotherhood of hook and net – the long ago men who beat the sun up by hours to be heading out of the harbor in pursuit of ahi, aku, and bottom fish. Crusty, crafty, akamai – as a group, the Uncles were keenly competitive yet supportive with a number of big, big hearts among them. Their high water mark was decades long – 1920s to 1950s, and even today. Japanese, Chinese, Local Haole, Filipino and Hawaiian, their only common blood was the saltwater in their veins. No birthright or apprenticeship determined membership – only time, respect and trust combined to bestow the unofficial, highly prized yet humble title of Uncle. Every day we honor them all in a way they would appreciate by delivering to you the freshest of fish – off the boat, in our back door, and onto your plate.
